女性はそのお礼に、色とりどりのイースターエッグやお菓子を贈るのが慣例のようです。

Easter in Hungary is not only a religious event but also a vibrant traditional celebration of the arrival of spring, beloved by many people.

Easter itself is the most important holiday in Christianity, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Hungary as well, many people gather at churches on Easter Sunday to attend solemn Mass and quietly celebrate this miracle.

For example, on Easter Monday, the day after Easter Sunday, a unique tradition called “locsolkodás” (sprinkling) takes place.Men visit the homes of women they know and sprinkle them with water or perfume.Surprisingly, this is considered a symbolic act of wishing for health and beauty.

In return, it is customary for women to give colorful Easter eggs or sweets as a token of appreciation.

(I was honestly shocked the first time I saw a girl getting splashed with a whole bucket of water—splash!! (Σ(ﾟДﾟ)))

During the Easter season, folk art fairs and markets are held throughout the country, featuring traditional crafts and decorated eggs. Folk music and dance performances take place in public squares, warmly welcoming visitors with Hungary’s rich cultural heritage.

At home, traditional Easter dishes like smoked ham, boiled eggs, horseradish, and colored cheese grace the dining table. Families and relatives gather to celebrate joyfully in a heartwarming scene that has been passed down through generations.
